Friends of Inayat Khan in Resonance

F.I.K.R. is the name for a very unoffical community of folks who feel drawn to the teachings and practices which come from the tradition begun by Hazrat Inayat Khan. It is for people who are unaffiliated with any of the more official Orders and organizations which have sprung up over the years in response to the work done by Pir-O-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan during his tenure on earth. Perhaps you find yourself drawn to public events given by devotees of Inayat Khan and his spiritual descendants—Sufi Dancing, retreats and camps, Zikr, etc.— or you may do related reading and/or practices on your own. Well then, welcome to F.I.K.R.!

This unofficial community is the brainchild of John Foldan, who saw the need for a more complete inclusion of officially unaffiliated people recognizing themselves as part of the same spiritual path as those who are more inclined toward becoming part of one organization or another. The structured work done by Sufi organizations is invaluable in spreading the message of world peace and the unity of religious ideals as taught by Hazrat Inayat Khan. He also taught us the purpose of spiritual practice is to share Baraka—the Blessing Presence. All who feel their call to Service leads them toward membership in an organization are encouraged to follow that leaning. Those who wish to remain officially unattached can provide support and friendship to the people who are in more structured service, or they may wish to take a solitary approach to spreading good vibes and uplifting memes into the world.

There are no dues, sign up forms, cards or anything like that for F.I.K.R. You are part of it if you feel you are part of It. Of course we are all friends of Inayat Khan as we do the work he set out for us. The designation F.I.K.R. creates an unofficially official connection for all of us who are connected anyway.

May the blessings of the One flow upon all, Friends!
